Get all the packing supplies you need before you start packing – including boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, furniture covers, mattress bags, and so on. The last thing you would want to run out of is tape while you are packing your things.
This may include glassware, dishes, glassware, mirrors, ceramics, and other fragile items. Wrap them separately in bubble wrap and then put them in the box with packing peanuts, newspaper, or bubble wrap so there is no space for them to move.
The weight of the things you intend to store should determine the size of the storage box you choose. Heavy smaller items like books and records should be packed in smaller boxes and lightweight bulky items such as pillows, and blankets should be kept in larger boxes.
Keep the weight of all your boxes to a maximum of 50 pounds for easier lifting.
Use mattress bags for items such as mattresses and box springs, and use furniture covers for sofas and chairs. Also, make sure you vacuum the fabric before covering the furniture.
Save yourself from stress when it is time to take the things out from the storage unit. Label each box properly and make a list of what is in each box.
Try to make the most of your storage unit. You can do so by keeping the most-needed things at the front of the unit for easy access and storing couches and other furniture that you may not need for some time at the back.
Also, you can use drawers of your furniture to store certain items.
